The Locomotives Across Canadaseries speaks of a nation coming into its own through some of its most iconic engines—including the 4-4-0, which was the most commonly used locomotive at the time of Confederation, and the first type built in Canada.
This coin is the first issue of the Locomotives Across Canada series.
The first coin of the series, released in June 2017, depicts the 4-4-0.
The second coin of the series, released in July 2017, depicts the RS 20.
The third and the last coin of the series, released in August 2017, depicts the GE ES44CA.
