Description
Players take on the role of Chinese rulers around the year 1000. The game plays out in twelve rounds, with each round representing one month in a year that seems to go from bad to worse. Disease, drought, and attacks from the Mongols may claim lives, but make sure you have enough money to offer a tribute to the Emperor.
The game play is easier than it may appear. Every player has a set of "person" cards. Each round, you choose one action (most of which call on your workers' abilities) to help you prepare for the months ahead. Then you play one person card, recruiting that person and placing him into one of your palaces. Each person brings different skills and abilities to help you ride out the year. (Farmers help you gain rice to survive a drought month, Tax Collectors raise money, etc.) At the end of each round, that month's event is triggered, which may cost you some of your workers, some money, or give you points.
Careful planning is the key to surviving "the year of the dragon," but survival alone may not win you the game.

| Simple and deep | |
| Although this Stefan Feld’s classic is very simple to teach and get to the table, it has a huge amount of depth. You often have to decide between 2 very bad choices in a turn and have no good choices at all in the next turn. The idea of the game is that we are dealing with 10 events over the course of 1 year. Each event (often negative ones) will oblige us to prepare for them (by gathering food, assembling armies, preparing medicine, etc.) so every round you do an action, you hire an individual and resolve the event. Finally you score points based on what you have on your palaces after the event. I really recommend as an introduction to Feld, that will be played for years to come. |

| Un bon jeu euro sans pitié ! ;-) L'un des Stephan Feld les plus ''simples'', et ce n'est pas péjoratif. Les choix sont difficiles chaque tour, et j'adore ça. Les parties ne sont pas trop longues non plus. Les mini extensions incluses dans cette versions ne sont pas toutes excellentes, mais celle de la muraille oui ; je l'ajoute à toutes mes parties. Je conseille à 3 joueurs ou plus. | |

| Cette édition du 10e anniversaire comprend le jeu de base et deux extensions. Le jeu est plus difficile qu'il ne paraît. Il exige une très grande planification pour survivre aux différents événements, la plupart négatifs, qui se succèdent tout au long des douze tours correspondant au douze mois de l'année. Un jeu qui requiert une bonne dose de réflexion, comme dans tous les jeux de stefan Feld. | |
