100 Years of Protection - the American Goldfinch
Since 1916, the Migratory Birds Convention represents an enduring partnership between Canada and the United States to safeguard our beloved migratory bird populations. This four-coin series celebrates the centennial anniversary of this landmark conservation measure, by showcasing some of the colourful bird species protected under itsprovisions—including the acrobatic American goldfinch (Spinus tristis).
This coin is the third issue of the Migratory Birds Convention.
The first coin of the series, released inFebuary 2016, depicts the Mountain Bluebird.
The second coin of the series, released in June 2016, depicts the American Avocet.
The third coin of the series, releasedin August 2016, depicts the American Goldfinch.
The fourth and the last coin of the series, released in November 2016, depicts the Pileated Woodpecker.
