100 Years of Protection - the Mountain Bluebird
Since 1916, the Migratory Birds Convention represents an enduring partnership between Canada and the United States to protect our beloved migratory bird populations. This stunning four-coin series celebrates the centennial anniversary of this landmark conservation measure by showcasing some of the colourful bird species that are protected under its provisions, such as the mountain blue bird (Sialia currucoides).
This coin is the first issue of the Migratory Birds Convention.
The first coin of the series, released in Febuary 2016, depicts the Mountain Bluebird.
The second coin of the series, released in June 2016, depicts the American Avocet.
The third coin of the series, released in August 2016, depicts the American Goldfinch.
The fourth and the last coin of the series, released in November 2016, depicts the Pileated Woodpecker.
