In Ancient Greece, the Fifth Century B.C., following the defeat ofthe Persian Empire in the Persian Wars, the Greek Poleis teamed up under the influence and command of the two leading factions, Athens and Sparta. Soon, both powers began to distrust one another, based on conflicting views regarding government, military, the economy and even life itself. Finally, these tensions led to the Peloponnesian War, one ofthe most important milestones of Ancient History. Polis : Fight for the Hegemony begins in this period.
Assuming either the role of Athens, leading Democracy, or Spart, leading Oligarchy, youmust expand your Poleis League by bringing other neutral poleis to defend your cause through the use of diplomacy or force, lead your League in a reasonable manner and managing the resources at hand, and all while fighting against enemy hoplites! You may be remembered as a strategos with unlimited prestige or you may be condemned to Ostrakismos for your ations! It's up to you.
You have great freedom of choice in Polis: Fight for the Hegemony, but you must face the consequences if your expansion has been excessive or if you have not beenambitious enough. You will be able to choose between a wide range of possible actions, ranging from trade with Foreign Empires to besiegingother poleis, as well as combat and many other aspects which bring a detailed historical feeling to the game.
