In 1996, the new $2 coin will be introduced and the $2 bank note will longer be produced. Before the Royal Canadian Mint could release the $2 coin into general circulation, test tokens were provided to the industries affected by the change for testing purposes.
This rarely-seen test token is an exclusive collector's item whichis now part of Canadian currency history.
Specifications : Struck on the bi-metallic token are the words "TEST TOKEN" and "ROYAL CANADIAN MINT" on the outer ring and three maple leaves in the inner core.
